Caressing

Posted on May 29, 2022May 29, 2022 by Jayanta

Perhaps all devotees wonder at some point if the Lord can hear their chanting, their prayers, their inner lives. The desire to have Him respond is in itself sufficient to begin the establishment of faith, and His response occurs without delay.

.

Pretending to tire, Lord Baladeva laid His head upon the lap of a cowherd boy and rested as Lord Kṛṣṇa helped relieve His elder brother’s fatigue by massaging His feet. Then Kṛṣṇa also placed His head on the lap of a cowherd boy to rest, and another cowherd boy massaged His feet. In this way Kṛṣṇa, Balarāma and Their cowherd friends enjoyed various pastimes. Srila Prabhupada, Krsna Book, Chapter 15, The Killing of Dhenuka

.

I wondered, can He hear my chanting?

Grace is instantaneous.

I immediately felt He was attentively listening.

.

Did I dare to think He was pleased, that in fact I had called and He glanced in this direction?

Did He rest for some moments in that realm without time

and enjoy the sounds, the vibrations softly flowing around the raincloud-blue body?

.

A voice transformed by the mercy of faith

from an old man’s clumsy muttering to the sound vibration of the  holiest of names,

finding the receptive, deep, and eternal source,

moving into realms of complete communion.
